Providence Road Kitchen Remodel with Hand-Woven Pendants

Project Overview

Frustrated with a cramped dining room and an underutilized adjacent space, the homeowners in this Charlotte, NC, remodel envisioned a larger, more functional kitchen with a “welcoming, warm, natural” aesthetic. The solution was bold yet practical: we removed the dividing wall and relocated the kitchen to the opposite side of the home, crafting an open concept kitchen design that transformed the entire flow of the space. This process involved demolishing the old kitchen, rerouting plumbing and electrical systems, and creating a layout that seamlessly blended beauty and utility.

The design came to life with custom kitchen cabinets in pearl grey, Mykonos quartz countertops, basket-weaved pendants, and nickel hardware. Soft mood lighting paired with bright recessed options created a versatile ambiance, while standout features elevated the space further. A custom appliance garage keeps counters clutter-free, and a spacious island offers seating for three—with room for a fourth. A unique 8x8 Kenzi Palomia tile niche under the hood, a traditional touch for spices and oils, quickly became a homeowner favorite. Beyond the kitchen, we added a stylish wine bar area and fully renovated the laundry room, boosting the home’s functionality and charm.

This kitchen remodel in Charlotte, NC, didn’t just enhance the home’s appearance—it turned the space into an inviting hub for daily life and entertaining. The homeowners couldn’t be happier with their dining room renovations and the thoughtful design choices that brought their vision to reality.

Challenges & Solutions

Challenge:

We had their original kitchen sink delivered to us three separate times, but each time, it arrived shattered due to careless handling during transit.

Solution:

In order to prevent this particular kitchen sink from shattering again, we had one of our team members travel to pick up the sink from the supplier. Thankfully, it didn’t cause a large delay since we order materials ahead of the start date.

Challenge:

There was an oddly shaped bumped out wall in the previous bar section. Our goal was to remove it but we weren’t exactly sure why that was there to start with.

Solution:

After opening up the framing, we diagnosed that the bump out was there because of a drain line. We decided to relocate the drain line into the existing wall and removed the extra bumped-out wall.
