Timeless Blue and Gold Kitchen Renovation off Providence Road

Project Overview

When we first met this family, their kitchen felt tucked away like its own little corner of the house. It wasn’t bad, just disconnected. They wanted something that felt open, calm, and easy to be in. A space where things had a place, where mornings could flow, and where the house felt a little more “them.”

We started by taking down the wall and old peninsula to open everything up and make room for a big island that could handle family life. We also fixed a few odd walls that stuck out, bringing everything flush with the French doors so the whole space finally felt balanced.

Behind the kitchen, we converted what used to be a playroom into a new laundry and storage area that was tucked away but super functional.

The mix of frosty white uppers and regent blue lowers gave it just the right amount of contrast. Paired with Calacatta Bellazo quartz, brass accents, and a custom Repose Gray hood, the space feels timeless but still fresh.

It’s one of those remodels that quietly changes how a home feels. Something comfortable, intentional, and made to last.

"When we set out to renovate our kitchen, the plan was as chaotic as our lifestyle. We sat with 5 or 6 different renovation/restoration teams before making our decision. DGK was a front runner from day 1.They showed up interested, and clearly passionate about their craft. Before we concluded the initial consultation they had already become engaged with our ideas and seemed eager to create something of our space. Not just eager to earn, but actually excited about what could be done here.We liked them. A lot!! The hard part for us was the price tag. Some say you get what you pay for. I say , when a price has a purpose, it becomes more meaningful to pay.I gotta say, these folks do what they do for a purpose. They stayed on or ahead of schedule every step of the way. Every time we hit a snag, whether it was creative or structural, they swiftly found a set of options to redirect the outcome. The value is unquestionable. Most impressively... since the day our project concluded nearly 2 years ago there have been easily 5 occasions where something was either damaged or altered in the new space... mostly due to our toddler...DGK has sent someone to check it every time!I often thought they were coming by to make suggestions for repairs... NOPE! They have each time, taken the initiative, to remedy each anomaly. To me that is some pretty kickass customer care.DGK is hella-legit. We are definitely fans."

Challenges & Solutions

Challenge:

Supporting a Large Island Overhang Without Posts The island had a large overhang, but we wanted to keep the design clean without adding bulky support posts.

Solution:

To make it work, we installed metal beams across the entire island, allowing us to recess the supports while keeping the overhang structurally sound. This gave the island a sleek, floating look without any obtrusive posts.

Challenge:

Relocating a Wall Return Without Making It Stand Out There was an existing return on the edge of the wall leading into the kitchen, and we needed to move it while keeping it visually subtle.

Solution:

We relocated the return to the edge of the cabinet and painted it to match, making it blend in seamlessly rather than sticking out as an eyesore.
